Ben Spergel, Executive Vice President – Consumer Insights
Ben Spergel oversees all of C4’s Research Consulting & Strategy business. In this role Ben partners with a variety of clients across the media spectrum to develop, execute and analyze consumer research data. Ben works closely with C4’s other business leaders to ensure that client relationships are consistent and comprehensive from script to screen, as well as with the product team to promote development of new tools for more accurate and timely research. Before joining C4, Ben spent seven years at Ipsos (formerly OTX) as a Vice President, Media Strategy and Insights, where he oversaw all business development, client service and strategic planning for TV Dailies, the company’s most profitable syndicated product. In addition to his management of TV Dailies, he also oversaw survey design, fielding and analysis of ad and program tests, brand trackers, cross platform studies and attitude and usage studies for a variety of media clients. Ben started his career on the studio side with MGM television and then Lifetime Entertainment. He is a member of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences and is known in the industry as a TV guru.
Wade Young, Executive Vice President – Operations
Prior to overseeing the start of C4 in 2014, Wade spent more than 20 years in Human Resources (HR) Management, focused in a number of HR specializations, including: compensation modeling, performance measurement, benefits administration, payroll, talent recruiting, training & development, risk management and employee relations. Wade’s HR career began in 1993, while working for Ernst & Young, LLP for seven years, followed by executive leadership roles at Ifilm.com, National Mobile Television and OTX (which became Ipsos in 2010). Wade’s expertise in HR, with specific emphasis in media market research, provides a unique perspective in addressing the day-to-day challenges faced by fast-paced, innovative environments. Wade’s philosophy of Operations Management is a simple, but effective one: encourage full compliance with the law, while allowing innovative business leaders to create and nurture their businesses’ unique personalities and cultures.
Brendan Manley, Director - Content Assessment
Brendan Manley brings 20+ years of experience as a business innovator, content expert, editor/journalist and screenwriter to the C4 team. As Director of Content Assessment, he oversees the company’s script consulting and analysis initiatives, while working to build/improve/utilize C4’s proprietary 4Cite system for box office projections. Brendan cut his teeth in the media trenches with publishers like the Associated Press, leading music magazine Alternative Press and award-winning newsweekly The Long Island Press, as well as with HotelInteractive.com, a market-shaping hotel industry B2B daily news portal he co-founded in 1999 and took public in 2001. Brendan also possesses extensive business analytical and reporting experience, formerly serving as consulting and valuation analyst for the worldwide hotel appraisal firm HVS, where he was personally responsible for the inspection and valuation of more than $1 billion in hotel assets. Over the years Brendan has emerged as a prolific public speaker and frequent TV and radio guest, hosting numerous conference panel sessions, while being featured in on-air radio interviews and live TV programs like NY News12’s Reporter Roundtable. In his spare time he has also been actively developing several original screenplays and a non-fiction title, while authoring an ongoing slate of feature articles for leading national magazines.
Jana Barber, Director - Consumer Insights
Jana has over 18 years of experience in entertainment market research. She began her career with NRG Nielsen, where she developed her skills as a moderator. In the years since she has gained extensive experience conducting post-screening discussion groups for all major film studios, pilot testing for several TV networks, held in-depth interviews with music industry heavyweights and conducted website and application usability texting. As Director of Consumer Insights for C4, Jana is responsible for project management, client service and analysis, both in the domestic and international research arenas. She’s managed research studies in the U.S., England, France, India, Brazil and Nigeria, and personally traveled to four of these foreign territories. Jana is known for her high energy, upbeat nature and the ability to stay calm and flexible in high-pressure situations.
Kirsten Young, Director - Online Consumer Testing
Kirsten has been a part of the C4 team since day one, coming over from the Worldwide Motion Picture Group at Ipsos, where she started in 2011. Although Kirsten’s primary role initially was to design and program questionnaires, perform data compilation and format analysis reports for online ad tests, she has quickly become C4’s millennial expert, playing an integral role in everything from project execution and client service, to graphic design and database management.
